After breakfast, journey to Arashiyama to explore Tenryuji temple, ranked by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In addition to its temple buildings, there are beautiful gardens with walking paths. Next, discover Arashiyama’s famous bamboo groves. Bamboo has been used to manufacture various products, such as baskets, cups, boxes, and mats at local workshops for centuries. Arrive at Nonomiya Shrine, a Shinto shrine that is referenced in numerous works of literature, most notably in the world’s first novel; The Tale of Genji. After lunch, continue to Kinkakuji by private coach. Arrive at UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kinkakuji, otherwise known as the Golden Pavillion, a stunning Zen temple with a golden exterior, serene gardens and historical significance. Afterwards, visit Fushimi Inari Shrine. Featured in the movie ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’, this shrine is known for its thousands of red torii gates leading up and through the sacred forest of Mount Inari. The site has been voted as the number one must-see spot in Kyoto by visitors. Later, be transported back to your hotel in Osaka.

This morning, enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Meet with your guide at the hotel for a sightseeing excursion to Osaka by private coach. Visit Osaka Expo ‘70 Park, one of the biggest green areas in the Kansai region, well-known because of remaining features like the Tower of the Sun monument, created by world-famous artist Taro Okamoto. The large site hosted the Universal Exposition held in Osaka in 1970, which was the first world fair in Asia.  

 Next stop is the Floating Garden Observatory. This open-air observatory provides an unobstructed 360-degree view of Osaka, the bay and even surrounding cities. Then, visit Osaka Castle, the largest castle in Japan when first built in 1583. This alluring castle is surrounded by impressive stone walls and moats, and sits in Osaka Castle Park, covering an area of two square kilometres. Continue your journey with a drive to the Ritsurin Garden. Ritsurin Garden is the largest Cultural Property Garden in all of Japan and is an important cultural asset that has been maintained for 400 years. Originally created in the Edo period for the daimyo (feudal lord), the garden features six ponds and thirteen landscaped hills in front of the green vista of Mt. Shiun, along with stunning rock arrangements and a wide variety of beautiful plants. The garden was designed to be leisurely strolled through, and each step offers a new perspective on the garden's scenery.   

This afternoon, perhaps embark on an optional Pilgrim Tour.

Journey to the Kurashiki Historical Quarter District, where Edo-era architecture paints a vivid picture of Japan's past. This afternoon, arrive on Miyajima Island by Zodiac, stepping onto the shores of an island renowned for its harmonious blend of nature and culture. Take a scenic walk to Itsukushima Shrine. One of the three most scenic spots in Japan, and the World Heritage Site of Itsukushima Shrine shines brightly amid its beautiful scenery. Explore the intricacies of this Shinto shrine, from the iconic "floating" torii gate to the delicate details of the Honden (main hall). Today, begin your day with a drive to the Atomic Bomb Museum, a reflection on the impact of the events of 1945. Explore the museum, gaining insights into the impact of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and the subsequent efforts towards peace. Following this, drive to the remarkable Urakami Cathedral, known for its unique architectural design and significance in the post-war rebuilding efforts. The bombed remnants of stone statues have been arranged in the surrounding area, including the one bell that withstood the atomic bomb blast and continues to announce the hour three times a day.

Your exploration starts with a drive from the port to Hagi Old Town. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Hagi Castle Town is an impeccably preserved example of a feudal Japanese town. Walk down the old streets and admire the residences of upper-class samurai, including important historical figures and wealthy merchants. Hagi Castle was built by Terumoto Mōri in 1604 and over the next 260 years, Hagi Castle Town prospered as the centre of the clan’s operations. Unearth Hagi's industrial history at the Hagi Reverberatory Furnace, a legacy of the Meiji (1868-1912) Industrial Revolution.  

After lunch, continue your exploration in the Samurai Quarter, wandering through the Samurai House and soaking in the historical charm of the area. 

Next, visit Toko-ji Temple. Founded in 1691, Tokoji is a temple of the Obaku School of Japanese Zen Buddhism. As you embark on a culinary adventure, head to a local restaurant for a delightful lunch.

Following this, embark on a scenic drive to Kenroku-en Garden, considered one of Japan's three most beautiful gardens. Originally developed in the 17th century, the garden boasts a harmonious blend of landscapes, including ponds, bridges, and teahouses. Adjacent to the garden stands Kanazawa Castle, a historic fortress with origins dating back to the Maeda clan in the late 16th century. Next, you will visit the Imperial Palace, located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo, and the residence of Japan's Imperial Family.  

The last stop is near Asakusa, Tokyo’s Old Town, where you can soak up the atmosphere of what the city must have been like hundreds of years ago. Visit Sensoji, also known as Asakusa Kannon and Tokyo’s oldest temple. The Broadway leading up to the Temple is called Nakamise and this shopping street has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and souvenirs for centuries. 

Head back to your hotel and enjoy an afternoon at leisure. Tonight, savour a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant.
